Ashley Gray, MSW, leads the Behavior Interventionist Department for Waterford Public School System, since 2018. The Department implements strategies to support social and emotional learning for at-risk students in grades K-12. This is conducted by daily intervention with students by identifying their triggers and emotions. Before this role, Ms. Gray was Dean of Students for Operation and Culture at Crescent Academy Charter School in Southfield, MI.  Her role was to create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning space for 30 teachers and support staff, and over 300 students in grades 5th-8th.

At Starr Commonwealth, Detroit, MI, she successfully developed innovative programs to strengthen families working to keep their students out of the criminal justice system. As a Community Base Program Supervisor, she addressed the problems and challenges facing African American families living in a complex environment. While at Starr she was able to strategize and create methods to decrease the likelihood of delinquency such as academic tutoring, mentoring, organized family activities, recreational outing, individual/ group, and family counseling.  Her passion and purpose are working with youth from 7-17 and develop programs for families seeking to raise socially and emotionally healthy youth.  

Ms. Gray has a master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University, her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Detroit Mercy. She is an Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor, Certified Trauma Specialist, and Certified Brief Strategic Family Clinician. 

Ms. Gray is the co-founder and Executive Director of E3 Michigan.

Dawn Stewart, Ph.D., LPC is a Program Manager for Detroit Public Schools Community District, where she orchestrates and oversees 11 initiatives for 110 schools. Before this role, Dr. Stewart was the Executive Director at Starr Commonwealth, where she managed the day to day operations of programs aimed at serving children and youth involved in the Foster Care and Juvenile Justice systems. Also, she has over 20 years of experience working at all levels of Human Service. She has been a counselor, direct care worker, instructor, supervisor, as well as executive administrator. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Dr. Stewart has extensive experience counseling youth and families.  

Dr. Stewart has a master’s degree in Counseling from Michigan State and a Doctoral Degree in Urban Education from Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Stewart’s research centers on the experiences of African American youth in the Foster Care system. 

Dr. Stewart is the co-founder and CFO of E3 Michigan. 

Sylvia Sims Gray, Ph.D., LMSW has been a Professor at Eastern Michigan University, School of Social Work for over 30 years. Dr. Gray is a recognized scholar, teacher, and cultural competent expert. Building on her work as a protective services worker, trainer in the State of Michigan Department of Human Services and her experience as Director of the National Child Welfare Training Center at the University of Michigan, Dr. Gray sought to prepare social workers to confidently respond to the needs of individuals, organizations, and communities in promoting social and economic justice. She authored and co-authored articles in major national social work journals, including Social Work, Child Welfare, Teaching in Social Work, and Reflections: Narratives of Progressive Helping.  Eastern Michigan University recently awarded Dr. Gray the status of Emeritus Faculty.

Dr. Gray focuses her private practice work on individuals, couples, and families to set and achieve their goals, resolving conflict, increasing their life satisfaction, overcoming depression, anxiety, grief, and strengthening parent and child relationships.  

Dr. Gray has a master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University and Ph. D from Wayne State University in Educational Sociology. 

Dr. Gray is the clinical therapist for E3 Michigan.

Brandon Gray, BSW professional career is rooted in workforce development and youth services at the community level.  Currently, he works with homeless veterans as an Employment Specialist. He successfully engages clients and establishes trusting relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment. He has experience as a Youth Case Manager/Facilitator and counseled youth and families regarding issues of mental health, poverty, unemployment, and substance abuse. Mr. Gray is Associate Director of Community Awareness for a local mentoring organization. He organizes youth activities that exposes youth to the depth and breadth of the Detroit community. These activities involve exposing youth to community arts programs, collaborating with local companies to offer potential work opportunities, and leading discussion groups on current events. 

Mr. Gray mentors African American males, using his enthusiasm for music and sports to help socialize youth in their transition from childhood to adulthood. 

Mr. Gray graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a degree in social work.   

Mr. Gray leads E3 Michigan’s Mentoring Program.
